BREAKING: Di Maria's father reveals why did Di Maria left the club!
Di María's father criticises The Spanish club saying: "They never offered 6 million to my boy". He also bemoaned the lack of affection shown, saying: "They never really valued Ángel. It was as if they didn't really want him at the club. They never showed him any love".
Speaking on the Spanish radio station 'Cadena Cope', Di María's father explained the reasons why his son chose to leave Real Madrid and move to Manchester United to continue his football career, "A lot papers have already worked out who's to blame for my boy not staying at the club. Ángel won 5 or 6 titles with Real Madrid and, despite twice improving his contract, they never reached the figure initially agreed".
He also bemoaned the lack of affection shown, saying, "They never really valued Ángel. It was as if they didn't really want him at the club. They never showed him any love".
Gareth Bale was chosen as an example when talking about Real Madrid's signings, "He always had to win his place. They were always brining in players to take his place, players like Bale". "My boy is tired of always having to prove himself and to fight for his place. He's shown what he can do".
With regards to salary, he was stinging, "They never offered him €6 million. The most recent offer was €5 million, which was one and half million more than what he was on. The initial problems arose for financial reasons. He went to Real Madrid for one salary and they cut it in half".
On United he said, "Ángel is now happy at Manchester United, where they treat him well. Also financially it is better than what Real Madrid offered him". In his judgement, Ángel Di María is a significant loss, "Real Madrid have lost a key player, a game changer, who could create something and win a game".
